Bones with Vulture Shading by Swymco Bones with Vulture Shading by Swymco
I was so happy with how well this turned out it inspired to create my Deviant Art account. :D
I got lucky how well this one turned out. Please don't let this first deviantion set the bar too high...

This was a project for class to practice continuous tone shading. Done on Strathmore paper with graphite pencils and a kneaded eraser. The object in the foreground was a small animal skull with a pair or two pronged antlers. Behind it is a wood cut sculpture of a vulture. Both were part of a larger still life set up for the class to draw. The exercise was to shade the objects and leave no sketch lines when finished.

I didn't spend enough time on the forehead of the skull because that's when I had to leave for my next class. And I see some other lines I would like to erase now that the image is so large, but in reality this picture is only 4"x5".

It's way better than a cell phone picture. There is no odd orange shade.

I don't know what to do when I won't access to the school's scanners. But I'll save that problem for when I get to it. Thank you for suggesting I scan the sketches. :)

Lol, true. I hatedwas displeased how my drawings came out. Some had my shadow of me holding the camera and poor lighting from my room. I had to use the sun as my light. :XD:

No problem and you're welcome, again. :D

Go and scan this picture. :)
It'll look nice. Very surprising that the res in the end was a bit HD, lol. I'm really dazzled by the skull, overall.

Thank you for the comment!

I did my first crosshatch today and it is looking pretty decent too. Half of a cow skull this time. I'll be sure to scan them both when I get the chance.

Since both pictures are so small I don't have to worry about them fitting in the school's scanners.
